Iphigenia of Aulis

Her father is the great Agamemnon, king of Mycenae and leader of the Achaean army that will sail to Troy. Her mother is Clytemnestra, a great queen loved by her people and overshadowed only by her own sister Helen’s fame and beauty. Iphigenia has grown up being taught by her tutors to do her duty to her family and to her people, so she is delighted when she is called to marry the great Achilles while the fleet waits to sail from Aulis. Little does she know that her father’s plans are very different …

But what really happens to Iphigenia? Did she survive a goddess’s wrath or did she pay for mistakes she did not commit? Which version of Iphigenia’s tale is true?

While each book can be read separately, and in any order, there is an underlying thread that ultimately connects all these characters and provides a wider view of what it was to be a woman in the ancient Greek world.
